Q:

What platforms does TOMLAB support?

A:

The TOMLAB Optimization Environment requires MATLAB >5.3 and is can be run on the following platforms: Windows, Linux, Linux 64-bit, Mac OS X.

Installation

Q:

When I run e.g. CPLEX or XPRESS-MP, I get an error like this:

Unable to load mex file: C:\tomlab\cplex\cplexmex.dll.
The specified module could not be found.

??? Invalid MEX-file

What is wrong?

A:

The "specified module" that couldn't be found is probably a shared library. The shared libraries needed are installed in tomlab/shared-directory and they must be visible to MATLAB through the PATH environment variable. On Windows, it is automatically set upon installation, but you have to restart MATLAB if it was running while installing TOMLAB. A possible case is that the shared files weren't installed at all. Make sure they are present or reinstall them.

Q:

When I try to run a solver I get an error message saying: "... No such file or directory ??? Invalid MEX-file". What can I do about it?

A:

Your problem probably occurs because (on Unix) you have not set your environment variables properly or (on Windows) because the installer failed to set them for you. From MATLAB using getenv(), check that the tomlab/shared directory is included in the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH (on Unix) or PATH (on Windows). For a more detailed instruction on Unix, refer to README.TOMLAB. On Windows, InstallShield should set this path automatically at installation.

Q:

Where should I install the tomlablic.dll / tomlablic.mexglx / tomlablic.mex file?

A:

Put it in the Tomlab root directory, where Tomlab is installed that is.

Q:

Why do I get a "system failure" error upon TOMLAB startup?

A:

Because your system clock is set wrong. If you set it to today's date, there should be no problem.
